Ridgely’s Record
July community meeting
The Ridgely’s Delight Association’s monthly meeting is happening on Zoom this Wednesday, July 1, at 7 p.m. Representatives from BGE will join us to discuss the proposed buried power line running through our neighborhood. A Zoom link will be posted on the community website.
Fourth of July fireworks
If you’re staying in town for Independence Day, the city has a fantastic lineup of events spanning the Waterfront Promenade from Harborplace to Rash Field. Here is the official schedule for Thursday, July 4:
6:00 pm – Celebration Kickoff: Live entertainment begins at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater.
7:00 pm – Live Music: Catch a performance by Avenue 66 along the Waterfront Promenade.
9:00 pm – The Main Event: Fireworks display.
If you want to skip the harbor bustle, a 9:30 p.m. drone show is also scheduled at Middle Branch Park.
Save the date for National Night Out!
Ridgely’s Delight will once again celebrate National Night Out with our annual community potluck picnic next month. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, August 4, 6 to 9 pm. This is always one of our neighborhood’s best-attended and most anticipated events, so come out and connect with neighbors, enjoy the park, and celebrate our strong community. Watch this newsletter and Ridgely’s social media for more details.
Neighborhood safety walks
Join your neighbors for a weekly safety walk on Monday evenings. The safety walk starts at 7:30 pm and lasts about 30 minutes. It's a chance to get to know neighbors and look at the condition of our streets, lights, parks, etc. We typically ask that participants submit 311 requests for any issues noted. Want to know more or be added to the safety walk email list? Email Maia Tatinclaux at safety@ridgelysdelight.org.
Neighborhood mural project
The Ridgely’s Delight Association is still gathering opinions for the Mural Project at MLK Jr Blvd and Washington Blvd. If you’ve not yet shared your ideas, please complete the RDA Mural Project Survey by visiting bit.ly/RDAMuralProject.
Community members can support this project by purchasing mural-inspired t-shirts, tank tops, or hoodies designed by neighborhood artist Josh Burggraf. Later this summer, neighbors can lend a hand in painting the mural at Neighborhood Paint Day. Please be on the lookout for updates about the Mural Project Fundraiser and Neighborhood Paint Day posted across the neighborhood and RDA social media.
The Amazing Acro-Cats
Easily one of the most wonderfully bizarre events coming to town, this is a full 90-minute touring "purrformance" featuring a troupe of trained house cats—all former orphans, rescues, and strays. You'll see domestic felines riding skateboards, navigating agility courses, jumping through hoops, and playing in the world’s only all-cat rock band, Tuna and the Rock Cats. There are several performances scheduled over the course of July at the Creative Alliance, 3134 Eastern Ave.
The Baltimore Caribbean Carnival
Easily one of the most uniquely vibrant and immersive cultural experiences in the city. The weekend features a massive, colorful street parade with jaw-dropping, elaborate masquerade costumes, high-energy Soca and Reggae music, and a massive festival village packed with incredible Caribbean street food and crafts. Saturday, July 11 & Sunday, July 12 in Clifton Park.
Street sweeping
Don’t forget to move your car on street sweeping days to allow DPW’s equipment to clean your entire block. This month, the scheduled dates will be:
- Odd sides of the street — July 15
- Even sides of the street — July 22
