About Ridgely’s Delight

Ridgely’s Delight is a quiet, family-friendly neighborhood. West Conway Street Park at the southern end is a large, open green space for residents to enjoy. A playground on Melvin Drive provides children with swings, slides, and a climbing structure, and features a ping-pong table for adults. 

Location

Ridgely’s Delight lies at the western edge of Batimore’s downtown business district. It’s bordered by West Pratt Street to the north, Russell Street to the east, and MLK Jr. Boulevard to the west. Just outside its boundaries lie Camden Yards, M&T Stadium, historic Pigtown, and the University of Maryland Greduate Schools and Medical Center. The neighborhood is just off I-95, making it easily accessible by car, and only a 15-minute drive from Baltimore Washington International Airport. For those taking public transit, Ridgely’s is a ten-minute walk from Camden station, where residents can catch the MARC train or the light rail, and is serviced by the Yellow, Brown, and Navy bus lines, as well as the Orange line of the free Charm City Circulator bus.

Neighborhood association

An active neighborhood association fosters a sense of community in Ridgely’s Delight. Each month residents and homeowners receive a newsletter, the Ridgely’s Record, and are invited to attend an association meeting. At the meetings, neighbors participate in active discussions about common issues and neighborhood initiatives. The association also mobilizes residents to maintain and beautify our streets and organizes social activities like happy hours and movie nights.

City Services

To report a fire or crime, call 911. For other concerns, call 311 or visit the 311 Services website, which can be used to report issues such as water emergencies, housing violations, abandoned vehicles, fallen branches, potholes, graffiti, and sanitation problems. 

Trash pickup is on Wednesdays. Bulk trash pickup is the first Tuesday of the month and must be scheduled through 311 at least three days in advance, either online or by phone. See the Public Works website for more information.

Recycling pickup is on every other Friday. The scedule is published in the Ridgely’s Record. It can be placed in any labeled container but should not be in plastic bags. For more information about what can be recycled, click here. 

Certain recyclable and bulk trash items, such as electronics or scrap metal, must be dropped off at a Public Works facility. Click here for more information.

Ridgely’s residents vote at PS 22, which is located at 800 Scott Street. We are in the 3rd congressional district, and our representative is John Sarbanes. The 40th state house district, to which Ridgely’s belongs, is represented by Antonio Hayes in the state senate. The state delegates for our district are Frank Conaway Jr., Nick Mosby, and Melissa Wells. For more information on voter registration, visit the Board of Elections website.

Pets

Ridgely’s Delight is home to many animal lovers. If you have a dog, please be considerate by keeping it on a leash and cleaning up after it. Please don’t allow your dog’s barking to disturb your neighbors. If a dog’s barking is disturbing you, let the dog’s owners know. If the barking continues, call 311.

Many neighbors walk their dogs at Conway Park, but it is not an official dog park. It is therefore against the law to have your dog unleashed in the park and you may be ticketed by the police. The Howard Street Dog Park on North Howard Street is walking distance from Ridgely’s Delight and has separate fenced-in areas for large and small dogs.

Zipcar

Two Zipcars are conveniently located on Warner Street just around the corner from Ridgely’s Market. The car-sharing service is ideal for people who don’t own cars but occasionally need them for grocery shopping or other short trips. The annual membership fee is $70, and members can rent cars at rates from $9.25/hour and $74/day. Gas, insurance, and up to 180 miles of driving per day are included.
