Disposing of your Christmas tree
’The Department of Public Works is offering free Christmas tree mulching services from Friday, Dec. 26, 2025, through Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026.

When:
Monday–Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (with the exception of New Year's Day)
What to Know Before You Go:
- Remove all ornaments, tinsel, lights, and decorations before arrival
- Bring your own bags or containers if you would like to take mulch home.

Grown Up Field Trip: Game On
Game night for adults is back at the Maryland Science Center! Compete with and against your friends throughout the exhibits—beer in hand and kid-free. Take on a variety of games, including Mario Kart on our five-story IMAX screen, a life-size version of Hungry Hungry Hippos, Nintendo-themed mini golf, and more. Friday, January 23, from 7 to 10 pm. Free Martin Luther King Jr. Day Concert,
In partnership with the City of Baltimore and Mayor Brandon M. Scott, a free celebration and performance will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., featuring music by celebrated Black composers and collaboration with the renowned Morgan State University Choir. The concert will be on Monday, Jan. 19, at 7 pm in the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. More information
Street sweeping
This month, the scheduled dates for street sweeping will be:
- Odd sides of the street — January 21
- Even sides of the street — January 28
as trees with your regular weekly trash collection through Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026.
- Trees must be placed at the same location as regular trash pickup
- All ornaments, tinsel, and decorations should be removed.
