Ridgely's Record
June, 2003
Community Meeting
There will be a community meeting at Camden Pub on Wednesday, June 4 starting
at 7:00. It will feature Mike Seipp who is running for City Council -
District 11. This is your chance to listen to his platform and ask him
direct questions. We are also going to discuss the empty lot on Fremont
St. If we don't have a vision for this lot, then somebody else will. You
are urged to attend this community-sanctioned event.
Parking Sticker Pickup
If you registered for a parking sticker or guest pass at Camden Pub last
month, you can pick them up on June 23 or June 25 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
The new stickers and guest passes become effective July 1.
Dedication to Cool Breeze
Noticed the cool new signs around Ridgely's Delight? One is dedicated
to the late Mr. Arie Wells, Sr. The community board would like to publicly
recognize Mr. Wells and his family at a ceremony to dedicate the sign.
Please plan on attending a short ceremony on JUNE 10th at 6:00 at the
new sign on Russell Street.
African American Festival June 6-8
The second annual African-American Heritage Festival will be held June
6-8 at Camden Yards. With plenty of food, vendors, children's activities
and national music acts like Dru Hill, LL Cool J and Nancy Wilson, the
event will be fun for the whole family.
Parking Warning
Unlike last year, parking will be aggressively enforced during the African
American Festival (June 6-8). Anyone parking in Ridgely's Delight without
a residential parking permit or guest pass will be ticketed and/or towed.
Neighbors can report trouble spots by calling 410-396-1945. Please note
that the Parking Authority will only take calls to this telephone number
during the festival.
Washington Blvd. Closing in Pigtown
In other traffic news, the 700 and 800 blocks of Washington Boulevard
will be closed to motor vehicles from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday,
June 7.
Upgrade Your Historic House
Call Paul at 410-234-1350 for an 1840 12-pane front parlor window salvaged
from a recent Ridgely's Delight renovation. Sashes are solid and 11 antique
glass panes are intact. Dimensions ar 91" x 35" without frame.
The only commitment is to install the window within a year.
Sincerest Apologies from the Editor
The editor made a big boo-boo, incorrectly listing the days for parking
permit sign-up in the May newsletter. After subjecting myself to various
retributive measures, e.g. standing in a corner for 2 hours, exercise,
and an episode of JAG, the editor self-inflicted the most serious punishment:
getting my parking permit directly from the city. See next story.
New Parking Office Close to Ridgely's
Those wishing ill upon the erring editor will perhaps remain unsatisfied
because getting your parking permit from the city is easier than ever.
There's a new parking office at 200 W. Lombard - right near the Arena.
Their number is 443-573-2800. And, the city has a new website that helps
the process along: http://www.baltimoreprefparking.com/.
Fill out the paper work, print it, bring in your supporting documents,
and get your permit.
Ridgely's Delight Garden
There are opportunities available to help water, weed and perform general
maintenance of some small public gardens in Ridgely's Delight. The community
board has some tools and funds available if needed. Call Paul at 410-837-6321.
Play Ball!
Mark your calendar for September 6th at 5:00. The annual community Babe
Ruth party is currently being planned. Tickets must be purchased before
August 8th. If you think you might want to attend, but you won't be here
for the summer, then please contact Paul Harris at pharris@ridgelysdelight.org
to make arrangements to purchase a ticket.
Volunteer Opportunity
Join thousands of citizens in the Baltimore area to volunteer on Saturday,
June 7th. We will be volunteering at over 30 schools, parks, and after-school
centers - many in the neighborhoods you serve. Learn how by contacting
Monica Haines, Volunteer Central and Business Volunteers Unlimited Maryland.

on the north and south sides of the lot. June 11 (6:00 PM), June 15 (1:00PM),
June 18 (6:00PM) and June 22 (2:00PM). Please call 410-468-0881 for details.
