Ridgely's Record
April, 2003

Community Meeting
There will be a board meeting at Camden Pub starting at 7:00 on April 2nd. The agenda will feature topics such as greening projects, party planning and other tidbits. April 2003

Super Spring Sweep Thing 4 - April 5
Join Mayor O'Malley this spring for the 4th annual city wide clean-up. We will meet behind the Mobil station at 9:30 on April 5th. The city will provide gloves, brooms, and trash bags. We will concentrate on cleaning up the litter that has appeared since the snow melted. This is a community-sanctioned event.

Online Bulk Trash Pickup
Request bulk trash pickup online at http://www.baltimorecitydpw.com/solidwaste/bulk.asp. Baltimore City residents who wish to receive bulk collection may use this website or call 410-361-9333. Please allow three working days prior to your scheduled collection day for an appointment. Each household is allowed 3 bulk items per collection, once a month. Please note, collection days have not changed, but material will only be collected if an appointment has been scheduled.

Parking Permits
Mark your calendar for residential parking permit sign-up at Camden Pub. Sign-up will be on May 19th (Mon) and May 21st (Wed) from 7:30-9:30 pm. Pick-up of new permits will be June 23rd (Mon) and June 25th (Wed) from 7:30 to 9:30 pm at Camden Pub. The cost of car decals is $20 and the cost for a visitor pass is $5. Please note that no cash will be accepted!

Garden Commandos
A community board member applied for a grant and was awarded money to plant two small gardens in Ridgley's Delight. Although we are unsure of the exact date, we still need to assemble a team of trowel-wielding, Hollytone-spilling, green thumbed volunteers. We hope it will be a Saturday or Sunday in April or May. If you are interested in a few hours of rewarding work and you want to be informed what day this is going to happen, then please contact Paul Harris at 410-837-6321 or president@ridgleysdelight.org. As soon as we know a day we will let you know. For God and neighborhood.

Revisit the Ridgely’s Mini Mart
If you haven't been in the Ridgely Mini Mart on Washington Blvd lately, please make a point to stop by. The new deli is a great addition featuring meats, cheeses and sandwiches to order.

UMB Housing Fair - April 11
University of Maryland will have a housing fair on Friday, April 11 from 10am-3pm at the Student Union Building. Ridgely's Delight will be represented along with local apartment complexes. Students are encouraged to stop by each booth to get housing information and learn about housing opportunities.
If you enjoy living in Ridgely's Delight and can volunteer a few hours that day, please contact Sharon at 410-385-1213 or sharon@reuter.net. We will have handouts at the table, but we need people, preferably students, who can speak on a first hand basis about living in our neighborhood.
If you are a landlord and have current vacancies, you are welcome to leave material at our neighborhood booth. Please contact Sharon to coordinate your material.

New Website Launched
The Ridgely's Delight Association recently launched phase one of the new community website. The site provides information about our neighborhood's history, businesses within walking distance and important information about topics that are near and dear to us, such as trash, parking, animal control, contacts and city services.
In the next few months, we plan to expand the site to include an online newsletter, a community bulletin board and information about the Association. Please visit our site at www.ridgelysdelight.org.

Free Screenings
Free screenings that can save your life. Nothing should keep a woman from getting screened for breast or cervical cancer. That is why Baltimore City Breast and Cervical Cancer Program at Harbor Hospital and Union memorial Hospital are offering FREE mammograms, breast exams and PAP tests. To be eligible, you must be age 50 – 64, a Baltimore city resident, uninsured or underinsured and limited income. For more information call 410-350-2001.
